Oromia State Forestry Agency, with support from the Bale Eco-Region Sustainable Management Program (BERSMP), are planning a REDD project to protect and rehabilitate the natural forests in the Bale Mountain Eco-Region of Ethiopia.
The Bale Mountains contain one of the last remaining Afro-montane forests in the world, and are situated in region named by Conservation International as one of thirty-four biodiversity hotspots in the world.
The project participants are seeking an investor to fund the further development of this project as a REDD project under the Voluntary Carbon Standard (VCS).
Further information regarding the project and the offer to investors will be coming soon.
