Scott Settelmyer, Managing Director
Scott advises TerraCarbon’s clients on carbon finance and market related matters, including project development, transaction structures, and market strategies for projects in the forestry and land use sector.  Prior to founding TerraCarbon, Scott was CFO of the Chicago Climate Exchange, Treasurer for ALLTEL Corporation (a Fortune 250 company), and Manager at Arthur Andersen in Chicago and London. He has a MS in financial markets and trading from the Stuart School of Business in Chicago, and a BA in finance from the University of Illinois. He is a CFA charterholder and a Certified Public Accountant.

David Shoch, Director, Forestry and Technical Services
David advises TerraCarbon’s clients on technical issues related to the design, development, and implementation of forest carbon offset projects. He has more than 15 years experience in forest inventory and biometry, and has worked on forest carbon projects throughout North America, Latin America, Africa and Eastern Europe. He has also contributed authorship on seminal publications of the Verified Carbon Standard, GOFC-GOLD and IPCC. Prior to joining TerraCarbon, David worked for The Nature Conservancy and Winrock International. David holds a Master of Forestry degree from the Duke University Nicholas School of the Environment and a BA in Biology from the University of Richmond. He has been a member of the Society of American Foresters since 1997.

James Eaton, Senior Manager, Forestry and Technical Services
Jamie advises TerraCarbon’s clients on technical issues related to the feasibility, design, and monitoring of forest carbon projects. He is an expert in forest and soil carbon measurement and monitoring, and has supported projects and research across the globe, including Poland, Ireland, Mexico, Ecuador, and throughout North America. He has extensive experience in the use of Geographic Information Systems (GIS).  Prior to joining TerraCarbon, Jamie was a science policy analyst for the Terrestrial Carbon Group, where he was involved in researching and advising on the technical aspects of carbon accounting on REDD and other AFOLU project types. Jamie is a former Fulbright scholar and holds a MS in Environmental Science from the University of Virginia and a BA in Biology from Saint Louis University.

Rebecca Dickson, Senior Manager, Remote Sensing and Spatial Modeling
Rebecca advises TerraCarbon’s clients on technical issues related to the feasibility, design, and monitoring of forest carbon projects. She is an expert in geographic information systems (GIS) and remote sensing analysis with extensive experience in land-cover classification, change analysis, and spatial modeling.  Prior to joining TerraCarbon, Rebecca was an assistant research professor and a postdoctoral research associate at Wake Forest University, where her research focused on land-use and land-cover change in southeastern Peru and included fusing ground data plots with remote sensed imagery analysis to develop estimates of carbon stocks across the landscape.  Rebecca directed research on land-cover classification and analysis of secondary forest cover in the southern Yucatán while at the Graduate School of Geography at Clark University.  She has also worked as an independent consultant for Beartooth Capital. Rebecca holds a PhD and Master of Arts in Geography from Clark University and is a former NASA Earth System Science Fellow.

Don Seay, Forester
Don is a registered forester and certified wildlife biologist.  Don brings more than 35 years of experience in the Lower Mississippi Valley (LMV), previously serving as a reforestation manager for Environmental Synergy Inc. where he directed carbon based reforestation projects in the LMV since 2004.  Don has also held prior positions with the U. S. Fish and Wildlife Service and the USDA’s Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) where he directed the private lands conservation resource management activities throughout Georgia, Alabama, and Mississippi including the restoration of longleaf pine, bottomland hardwood and prairie ecosystems.

Harry Cook, Forester
Harry is a registered forester and certified wildlife biologist.  Harry brings more than 40 years of experience in the Lower Mississippi Valley region, previously working on restoration projects for Environmental Synergy Inc., the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries, and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. His work for each of these organizations has involved extensive “hands on” restoration of agricultural land.  This work has included developing seedling, site preparation, and planting prescriptions for reforestation project sites; overseeing planting activities in the field; and conducting post-planting survival checks and measurements.

Manuel Estrada is an independent consultant, who was previously the lead negotiator for Mexico on land use and forestry issues.  Manuel also has participated in various working groups to develop methodological advice for land use and forestry projects, including the VCS AFOLU working group on Afforestation/Reforestation. Manuel provides TerraCarbon and its clients with policy and methodology advice in the land use and forestry area, He also provides project support for TerraCarbon’s clients in Central and South America.

D. Neil Bird currently holds a position at Joanneum Research in Graz, Austria where his main areas of interest are: methodological issues and development of unique CDM A/R projects; modeling of carbon sequestration in A/R and forest management projects and methodologies related to reduction in emissions from avoided deforestation. Neil provides methodological advice and modeling support to TerraCarbon and its clients.
